There's 2 contemporary artists whose work I enjoyed seeing. Both had works exhibited at the Stremmel Gallery back in 2013 in the exhibit "The Animal in Contemporary Art II" which was a continuation of an exhibition back around 2000. Tom Judd's work consists of a realistic painted animal over a collage of notes and pictures as if it was on a cork board. I really enjoy the bright colors and the uniqueness of the background being something other than painted- I think I like when there's multiple media being used in art. Tom Uttech's paintings consist of dark shady forests contrasting with a beautiful bright sky. It seems that they take place at either dawn or dusk. I love his realistic rocks and leaves and I want to strive to get to that level of detail; especially with trees. I feel they'll become important in my work. The contrasting of the sky with the ground creates gorgeous pieces of art and it's much more fun to do a dawn or dusk sky rather than a plain blue one!
