Sand Flea- Boston Dynamics (2012)

The Sand Flea is a robot programed and produced by Boston Dynamics. This bot is capable of jumping up to ten meters high and can be used to jump over buildings. Given it's small size it's possible about 10 people worked on it, maybe even less. Based on the video and the photos the bot looks to be made out of plastics and a lightweight metal to allow for the high altitude. The Sand Flea appears to function by using a bar to lift its front wheels up before propelling it up in the air. Something unique about the Sand Flea is that it's able to keep itself stable and oriented while in the air in order to land properly.
